Girl-Child Education as a tool for Poverty Eradication in Nigeria.

Abstract

This paper highlighted the phenomenon of poverty within the context of the Nigerian society. The prevalence, causes, effects and the ameliorative measures so far of poverty were also highlighted. The status of Nigeria’s response to the provision of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) with respect to eradication of poverty and achievement of educational parity among the gender was dully assessed and highlighted. Girl-child education when given its rightful place in the nation, will remove every foreseeable barrier to girl-child educational access and retention. This will empower women and girls to contribute their quota in socio-economic development of Nigeria.
