Abstract
Over the years, individuals across the world have always participated in sporting activities either professionally or as a form of recreation. However, the trauma created by COVID-19 pandemic affected people in different ways both at individual and collective levels and sports men and women were not speared. This Chapter focused on the roles of experts in sports psychology and psychological counselling in identifying different approaches to assist athletes in managing mental well-being challenges. Psychological challenges faced by sports men and women were outlined, different ways and means these issues can be addressed by experts in the field were highlighted. Recommendations include the continuous provision of mental well-being services to athletes during and after active competitive and recreational sports.
