Abstract
This paper audits, using a fact-checking methodology, the narrative presented in a Portuguese-language YouTube Shorts video about the EVE Online player Ethan Richards, whose character, Katia Sae, visited all 7,805 reachable star systems between 1 December 2009 and 9 March 2019 without suffering a single combat loss. The narrative further states that, following this achievement, Richards was invited by the developer CCP Games to Polaris, a system restricted to developers. Based on the video's automatic transcript, fifteen verifiable claims are extracted and systematically checked against the Guinness World Records entry, specialist press reports, interviews, and documentation produced by the EVE Online exploration community. The findings indicate that the core of the narrative is corroborated by independent sources. However, the transcript contains speech-recognition errors involving proper nouns, chronological imprecisions, and a dramatized account of the final episode that differs from the documented sequence of events. The study also examines the numerical structure of the achievement, its contrast with a subsequent speed record, and the methodological limitations inherent in fact-checking a narrative derived from an automatically generated audiovisual transcript. The results demonstrate the importance of distinguishing between the verifiable historical core of a digital achievement and narrative elements introduced through transcription errors, chronological compression, or dramatization.
